SHEQ POLICY

Safety, Health, Environment and Quality responsibilities are integral to the way we do business. Our futures are only built through our people. We aim to protect them.

BluRock Mining Services is primarily focused on to provide a safe and healthful physical and psychosocial workplace environment. Ensuring adequate resources are made available so that service areas are able to meet health and safety. If a job represents a potential safety or health threat, every effort will be made to plan a safe way to do the task. Every procedure must be a safe procedure.  Shortcuts in safe procedures by either foremen or workers will not be tolerated.  If a worker observes any unprotected job, which may pose a potential threat to their health or safety, he or she must inform management and management must take adequate precautions.

Our aim is: 

  • To prevent accidents and cases of work-related ill health and provide adequate control of health and safety risks arising from work activities.

  • To provide adequate training to ensure employees

  • are competent to do their work.

  • To engage and consult with employees on day-to-day health and safety conditions and provide advice and supervision on occupational health.

  • To implement emergency procedures.

  • To maintain safe and health working conditions, provide and maintain plant, equipment & machinery and ensure safe storage/use of substances.

  • Using a qualified safety person for Safety, Health, Environment and Quality, which are consistent with internationally recognized standards.

  • Making regular job site safety inspections.

  • Enforcing the use of safety equipment and comply

  • with all applicable legal requirements.

  • Enforcing safety rules and using appropriate discipline.

  • To promote employment among the locally unemployed youth.

C.O.R CERTIFIED

C.O.R. = Certificate of Recognition. A C.O.R. recognizes that the health and safety management system of an employer has been evaluated by an auditor to meet the specific standards. A health and safety management system is a process put in place by

an employer to minimize the incidence of injury and illness to

workers involved in the operations carried out by the employer.

This is accomplished through identifying, assessing and controlling risks and potential risks to workers in all workplace operations.

To be effective, the following components are considered to be essential and form the basis of a health and safety management system:

  • Identification and analysis of health and safety hazards at the worksite

  • Control measures to eliminate or reduce the risks to workers from these hazards

  • Clearly-stated company policy and management commitment

  • Worker competency and training

  • Inspection program

  • Emergency response planning

  • Incident/accident investigation

  • Program administration

IT IS ESSENTIAL TO THE SUCCESS OF BLU ROCK’S SAFETY AND HEALTH TO PROTECT EVERY EMPLOYEE FROM INJURY AND ILLNESS AND ITS PHYSICAL ASSETS AGAINST DAMAGE, WASTAGES AND/OR LOSS ON THE JOB
 

 

In accordance with this policy, Management will continuously upgrade the health and safety standards in accordance with our risk assessment. 

  • Ensure that all employees receive the necessary training and are aware of hazard and safety procedures.

  • A safety person or other designated person will tour each job site and observe potential safety/health hazards, including the potential hazards 
    of confined spaces and develop a plan for safeguarding this company’s workers.

  • Document safety inspections and checklists.

  • Establish actions to prevent re-occurrence analyze causes and recommend actions, motivate employees to work safely.

  • Develop a foundation for full cooperation.

  
Furthermore the Company:- 

  • We aspire as far as possible to minimize the impact of mining operations on the environment through hazardous waste minimization and management.

ENVIRONMENT POLICY

We are committed to providing a quality service in a manner

that ensures a safe and healthy workplace for our employees and minimizes our potential impact on the environment. We will operate in compliance with all relevant environmental legislation and we will strive to use pollution prevention and environmental best practices in all we do.

We will:

  • Integrate the consideration of environmental concerns and impacts into all of our decision making and activities;

  • Promote environmental awareness among our employees and encourage them to work in an environmentally responsible manner;

  • Train, educate and inform our employees about environmental issues that may affect their work;

  • Reduce waste through re-use and recycling and by purchasing recycled, recyclable or re-furbished products and materials where these alternatives are available, economical and suitable;

  • Promote efficient use of materials and resources throughout our facility and projects including water, electricity, raw materials and other resources, particularly those that are non-renewable;

  • Avoid unnecessary use of hazardous materials and products, seek substitutions when feasible, and take all reasonable steps to protect human health and the environment when such materials must be used, stored and disposed of;

  • Purchase and use environmentally responsible products accordingly;

  • Where required by legislation or where significant health, safety or environmental hazards exist, develop and maintain appropriate emergency and spill response programs;

  • Communicate our environmental commitment to clients, customers and the public and encourage them to support it; and

  • Strive to continually improve our environmental performance and minimize the social impact and damage of activities by periodically reviewing our environmental policy in light of our current and planned future activities.
